After years working in tech across the US and Europe, I faced the same question many NRIs do: Can I afford to move back to India?

The calculators I found were either too simplistic (ignoring taxes, currency, lifestyle differences) or required expensive financial advisors. None addressed the unique challenges of repatriation: RNOR tax windows, relocation shock costs, city-specific expenses, and the reality of supporting family while building a new life.

The Journey

I spent months building spreadsheets, reading tax codes, and talking to other returnees. The process was fragmented and error-prone. I realized that if I—someone with a technical background and financial literacy—struggled with this, thousands of others were in the same boat.

RebaseNest started as a personal tool to model different scenarios: What if I move in 2 years? 5 years? What if I choose Bangalore over Mumbai? What if I keep working part-time? The answers weren't just numbers—they were confidence.

Our Promise

Your data stays local-first. We use IndexedDB for guest sessions and only sync to the cloud when you explicitly create an account. We don't sell your data. We don't show ads. We're building a tool we'd use ourselves.
